Preparing the house

Before you bring your new friend home, it’s important that your house is a safe, secure, and a welcoming place for them to settle into their new life. Cat proofing your house is a must! Cats are naturally curious and love exploring every nook and cranny they can. Be sure that your house is a safe place for them to explore by hiding any loose cables and making sure small, breakable objects are out of reach.
Cats love having their own space and independence, be sure that they have a comfortable spot like a blanket or cat bed that they can relax on. Providing your cat with a litter box in a quiet and easily accessible location is a must, don’t forget to clean it regularly to keep your cat healthy and to stop odours.
The last thing we suggest when preparing your house for is to make sure you have a scratching post. Cats need to scratch to keep their claws healthy and mark their territory, giving them a post designed for them to scratch will hopefully prevent damage to your furniture or house.

When welcoming a cat there’s some essential things you’ll need to make sure the transition is as easy as possible. Here’s the must have items you’ll need before you welcome a cat into your life:
Food and water bowls – an obvious one, but an often forgotten one. Having food and water bowls that are easy to clean and resistant to bacteria building up is a must! We suggest getting either ceramic or stainless steel bowls.
High quality food – to make sure your cat has the best start to their new life, it’s important to invest into a high quality, nutritious cat food. At Capalaba Produce we have such a large variety of cat food, you’ll be sure to find the purrr-fect meal for your new friend.
Toys – every kid loves to play! Be sure that there’s a variety of toys to keep them active, and mentally stimulated. Interactive toys, balls, and wands are great toys for your new cat!
